May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month

If you have been thinking about becoming more fit, this is the month to begin. May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month and the right time to make physical activity a bigger part of every day.

Most of us would like to be more fit, I think, but may not know the right way to go about it. We have all heard some tips to becoming more active such as parking far from the door at the local mall. I have also found that carrying an inexpensive pedometer in my pocket tends to make me walk more just so I can see how many steps I can get in a day. Ten thousand steps is the recommended number for an active person, but no matter how many you do, it's a plus for your health.

Best of all find an activity you enjoy doing and that will improve your fitness level at the same time. Talk to your doctor before beginning any type of exercise to make sure it is a good idea for you.
