Truth time: Have you put an important area of your life on hold? In that area, have you postponed making decisions and taking actions? What excuse have you given yourself for this non-action? Have you used lack of money as your justification for deep-freezing your heart’s desires?
If so, how do you know what you don’t know? When it comes to money, do you think there might be some secret or some little known truth that you just don’t know about?
Countless info-gurus would like us to think so. A recent Google search on secrets of making money yielded 4,750,000 hits. Money making lies produced eight million and money making truths only one million.
Author Egbert Sukop (see www.moneybymistake.com) would say that’s one million too many. He doesn’t believe there are any absolute truths when it comes to money and that’s precisely what I find so attractive about his work. If such a truth existed, don’t you think someone would have told you by now?
But there are countless lies told about money and moneymaking. Exposing these myths has become Egbert’s life’s work. Unfortunately, money or lack of it seems to be the reason we offer most when excusing ourselves from living a fully authentic life.
Get ready, you’ve seen the following questions before, but have you really answered them?
What would you do with your life if money weren’t an issue? How would you enjoy yourself if you had all the money you needed to do exactly what you wanted to do, when you wanted to do it? What would you do? How would your life be different?
Please take a moment and give this some thought.
Now, answer this one: What would you do with your life if you knew that you’d never, ever make more money than you do right now? If that were so, how would you live your life differently? What would you change tomorrow?
Lack of money is a poor excuse for not doing what you know would make you happy. I’ve learned from Egbert that we do what we want to do anyway; then we just make up the reasons to justify what we’ve already done.
Ready to take your life off hold? If any of these questions hit a nerve, you may want to write about them and ponder the possibilities of living a life with full freedom of self-expression. Forget seeking the truth about money. It doesn’t exist. Instead, seek to illuminate the guiding truth of your own special spirit. Now that’s a truth you can live by.
