Wondering what to do with an old computer you don’t use anymore but hate to destroy? Hewlett Packard offers an extensive pick-up recycling program for used computers, printers and multifunction equipment and HP ink and LaserJet cartridges at a “small charge” to you.
Visit www.hp.com/recycle for information. Keep in mind that you are still responsible for removing security and personal information from your own computer before HP picks it up. There are also some other options for what can be done with your old equipment, including donating it to a worthy cause or trading them in.
What happens to the equipment? The old components can be turned into everything from new HP products to airplane parts to little red wagons. The cartridges may show up in their next life as soles for shoes, serving trays, fence posts and HP scanners.
